The rancher’s death that kickstarted SB1070 remains a mystery

Robert Krentz was murdered on his ranch in March. The murder, widely blamed on a faceless immigrant with possible drug cartel ties,  kickstarted the passage of SB 1070, acccording to many political insiders.

The assailant remains on the loose, but Cochise County Sheriff Larry Dever says he’s close to finding the killer. In the meantime, there’s a dearth of information about the killing because records have been blacked out. The sheriff explains he doesn’t want the killer to know he’s on to him.
