  1. Hello,

I heard your show the other day and Ms Sterling. There are so many items attached to Ms Sterling’s argument and “findings” where does one start.

Firstly, let’s call the illegals what they are, “Illegal Aliens”. the Department of State defines Nationals of other countries working in the US legally as “Resident Aliens”. Calling these people “Immigrants
” is inaccurate and really is an attempt to put a positive or a more positive spin on what these people really are.

It also takes away from the people who want to emigrate to this country legally.

Ms Sterling uses Politically Correct language like referring to a listener comment about illegals from Mexico “Ghettoizing a neighborhood” as painting with a “wide brush”. That’s nice euphemistic language but in reality the people that illegally cross into this country are poor and uneducated and have no qualifications or skills. That being said, they do not have high paying jobs and don’t live like middle class people and upper middle class people like Ms Sterling. They do not fix and maintain their dwellings nor do the majority of them have enough food to feed their many children that are in our public school system. I know for a fact the the AZ Public school system is a hideout for illegals since the schools don’t want to report an illegal child. Somehow this is construed as being unfair and horrible. Funny my children’s schools have had cutbacks due to lack of funding for those children whose parents are legal and tax paying residents. Programs have to compete with free food programs and ESL programs for illegal children whose illegal parents cannot support their families.

According to Ms Sterling the border should be wide open even if she says it should not be. She makes no condemnation about people who are here who broke the law and continue to be a financial drain on the local municipalities.

Ms Sterling is certainly an advocate of illegals Mexicans here in Arizona. That is nice that she has taken these people to her heart. BUT, she speaks as if these people naturally belong here and citizens wanting a rule of law enforcement are somehow wrong and insensitive.

Our country cannot tolerate uncontrolled immigration. Why do illegal Mexicans gain special consideration ? Because they are here already ?

I hear things that are not substantiated and left open ended as if anyone who questions is somehow bad. For instance why is profiling bad ? How does profiling cause discrimination ? Discrimination starts at birth. 25 and onwards Police officers won’t become discriminatory because of SB1070.

I hear Ms Sterling talk about how many of these illegal aliens pick our food and make our hotel rooms and serve us at restaurants. Sorry I don’t buy that somehow I should be indebted to anyone who works and gains benefits from social programs especially when they are illegal. This is a popular argument with regards to illegals primarily from Mexico. That we should be grateful for working jobs that no one else would want.

The fact of the matter is that those restaurants, hotels, and farms are importing illegal labor and Mexico is “dumping” human labor to lower prices just like countries dump products in the market place to make their product more favorable and to artificially lower market prices. I contend that these hotels, restaurants, and farms use illegal labor in order to support their over capacity businesses in a competitive marketplace. We don’t need the many many restaurants, hotels and farms that currently exist. Illegal labor just props up businesses that are artificially kept alive by the low labor rate.

Ms Sterling tries to give the impression that we as neighbors and residents of Phoenix and Arizona have no clue as to the real situation of Illegal Aliens from Mexico. That so diminishes my everyday experience and those of everyone else in this state. Somehow Ms sterling knows more than me because she speaks spanish and talks to illegals.

Given her reasoning of how illegals are in every neighborhood, then makes me neighbors with illegals and gives me an everyday experience with illegals from Mexico thus negating her premise that most Arizonians don’t know the real situation with illegal Mexican aliens.

I don;t buy her rhetoric and her very lofty ideas that place all of the monetary responsibility on me and other tax payers. She doesn’t tell me and others what we get for our money and tolerance of law breakers.

  2. I thought a lot about this comment.
What I get from this letter is a great deal of personal pain, and it saddens me.
    Still, your thinking puzzles me.
Sometimes you address issues that I did not address in the radio show, and attirbute them to me.
For instance, you write: “According to Ms Sterling the border should be wide open even if she says it should not be.
    Huh?
You have never heard me say I advocate for open borders.
Second, the statement: ‘I know for a fact the the AZ Public school system is a hideout for illegals since the schools don’t want to report an illegal child.”
Federal law bars schools from checking immigration documents. So even if the schools wanted to, they could not legally “report an illegal child.”
Third, you say I have “lofty ideas that place all of the monetary responsibility on me and other tax payers.”
Honestly, I don’t know what you mean. Please point out where in this radio show I said anything that even approached what you suggest.
Finally, you say, “Somehow Ms sterling knows more than me because she speaks spanish and talks to illegals.”
    I agree.
